Referral Hospital ERU 1. PURPOSE To serve as a first referral level hospital with medical and surgical units to be used as soon as possible in emergencies when local medical facilities are insufficient or have been destroyed. 2. CAPACITY This referral unit has a principal capacity of up to 250'000 population served, using a modular approach adjusting to the actual needs. The bed capacity ranges between 120-150.
